The Megger High Frequency Current Transformers (HFCT) are designed for decoupling of PD signals and can be used for multiple applications in MV, HV and EHV range. The HFCT sensors are attached around the cable / accessories earth connection e.g. a cable earth screen.
Megger offers permanent as well as split-core HFCT sensors. Permanent HFCT sensors are ideal for those assets were permanent monitoring is required or were getting outages are almost impossible. Having pre-installed HFCT sensors in this case will allow online PD monitoring without the need of an outage. The split-core HFCT’s are ideal for spot testing where there is direct access to the earth screen. The split-core HFCT’s can also be used inside switchgear cabinets, but then in most cases, as of safety reasons, an outage is required.
